Is Botox Safe?

When performed by our amazing master injectors here at Refresh Palm Beach Medical Aesthetics, BOTOX® wrinkle reduction treatments are entirely safe. BOTOX® is FDA-approved for treating fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, brows, cheeks, and mouth, as well as other areas susceptible to premature aging.

Your BOTOX® injectables in Jupiter, FL, will be performed by the Refresh Palm Beach Medical Aesthetics team.

How Does Botox Work?

The key ingredient in BOTOX® that allows it to effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles is botulinum toxin type A, a substance that works as a neuromodulator. BOTOX injectables work beneath the skin’s surface to block nerve signals that cause muscles to contract. By relaxing facial muscles, your frown lines, crow’s feet, and other signs of facial aging are much less prominent, which gives your face a smoother and more youthful appearance.

Why Choose Botox Injectables?

Adult women and men of all ages who want to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles on their faces may be good candidates for BOTOX. Ideal candidates have mild to moderate facial wrinkles and realistic treatment expectations.

If you have any of the following conditions, you may not be an eligible candidate for a BOTOX treatment:

  • You have allergies to the botulinum toxin.
  • You have problems associated with swallowing or breathing.
  • You have a risk of infection at the targeted treatment area.
  • You are breastfeeding and pregnant.
  • You recently underwent a surgical procedure.
  • You have disorders associated with the muscles or nerves.

The consultation is an integral part of the process when it comes to determining if BOTOX® is the right option for you. It’s essential that you talk to us honestly and transparently regarding your past and present medical issues during the initial consultation. Based on your medical history, we can determine whether or not you would be a good candidate for BOTOX treatments.

PREPARING FOR YOUR BOTOX TREATMENT

While preparing for a BOTOX session doesn’t involve too much hard work, there are certain steps that you should take to prepare correctly.

Please refrain from taking medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen in the days leading up to the treatment session. These medications are known for thinning blood.

Avoid smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol in the days leading up to the treatment session. You must also avoid them for a few days/weeks after the session. Both cigarette smoke and alcohol are known to cause inflammation in the body, which may tamper with your recovery and prolong minor side effects such as bruising.

Before arriving for the treatment, thoroughly wash the skin in the targeted treatment area. Oily and greasy skin may lead to acne outbreaks after the treatment. Do not apply makeup or cosmetic products to the treatment area before coming in for your BOTOX injectables.

Other Treatment Options for Wrinkles

Other options for non-surgical wrinkle correction include Dysport and Xeomin. Both treatment options have been proven effective and can provide beautiful and natural-looking results when performed by a skilled and experienced aesthetic expert.

Dysport

Similar to BOTOX, Dysport also uses a purified form of botulinum toxin type A to temporarily relax the facial muscles to soften the appearance of facial wrinkles. Dysport is more diluted than Botox, which makes it an excellent option for treating larger areas.

Xeomin

Unlike Botox and Dysport, Xeomin’s formula only contains botulinum toxin type A, making it the most concentrated and pure form. Because of this, Xeomin may be a more effective option for patients who may have developed some resistance to BOTOX and Dysport to attain their desired results.

The Treatment Process

First, the intended injection sites are carefully cleaned. They are then marked to serve as a guide for the injector. Injections are given in less than an hour while you’re on your lunch break from work.
